The summer heat edge is off. This week has been perfect. While it is nice to have work, it would have been the best week to be in the lake or riding the bike somewhere.
After the holiday, I have both my fantasy teams drafted...wait, what the fuck is this?!...
I am watching the opening football game (Touchdown Tommy is on my law school team), and there is some substitute national anthem song. Dammit, NFL, quit trying to be woke and just send us the yummy, brain-damage we crave. I don't need something that sounds like a Boys2Men slow jam opening up the on-field action. And before some random wanderer reads this and decides to pop off, I have already vocalized my displeasure of being subjected to Ed Sheerhands because I thought the game started an hour earlier than it does. My point: I hate all your music choices, without regard to slight genetic differences among the performers.
Damn, Brady looks good. I guess a supermodel wife keeps you from getting sloppy.
There are eight assholes from NBC picking the game. This organization is a bit top heavy on the screen. Is that fucking Drew Brees? I thought we were done with that biscuit-faced bland man. [Sigh.]
Oh here is poker game snap from the auction:

It is probably good I am writing this during the game. Commercials almost neutralize the happiness of football. Red zone. Red Zone. RED ZONE!
Red Zone doesn't help after 6pm.
I gave AC his stogie for bringing my Yats, but I think I need to mail him a check for the actual amount.
Here is another draft-participant and utilizer of the AC delivery service:

Yummy, yummy Yats.
Head & Shoulders and Troy! One good commercial.
Working from home means you can grill steak for lunch. I finished my family value-pack of sirloins today. Is it sacrilege that I cut them into strips and ate the strips in hot dog buns? Because I did that. Today. Deal with it.
Chris Pratt is selling Chevys. WTF. Brady selling Subway like a perfume made me grin.
Ne poker during the holiday. Next Monday will be a Week 2, so two weeks ago was a Jackpot week. I was tied for fourth with season points, so I started with the third most chips. It was enough to get me through my bad plays. I ended up taking 2nd for the Jackpot Week. I came into the heads up way behind the chip leader. I took a big hit right away, such that I was all-in for the next blind. Then I went on an improbable six pre-flop "all-in" win streak. The other guy was the one going all-in and I was behind at least four times going into the flop. Once I got the chip lead, I tried leaning on him with a better hand pre-flop. He called and a fifth-street 7 gave him a pair to win. I was out the following hand. But it was an amazing run.
I took a ride down to Byron Center on the paved trail. I am happy to see how many people take advantage of the scenic trail around this part of the state. I took Tony on the trail between Holland and Saugatuk on the way to the draft. I think he liked the change of pace. I have yet to make a bike ride to Founders in this quasi-post-Covid era. Maybe this fall.
Regarding "rebuilding" the hurricane ravaged areas, how about we don't. I am thinking a "re-engineering", maybe. These fuckers on the Gulf and the Atlantic need to move their dumb asses inland about ten miles. Anything left near the water needs to be built to operate in storm surge and 100mph winds. Turn those lands into wild-life sanctuaries and Federal parks.
Galaxy Z might be my next phone.
Ariana Grande is on the Voice, and I still don't watch it. Does someone super-clip Grande's footage each week? I might watch that.
Watching this Tampa/Dallas game, I am thinking that Tommy is going to carve this league like a gift Cratchit goose. Having him on the law school team makes me giddy. My law school team name: Snake Jazz. The homer league: Sea Cucumber. What TV show have I been binging lately? HBO's Titans would be a technically correct answer, but I slept or fast-forwarded through chunks of that show. Sea Cucumber! Seaaa Cucumber!...that still cracks me up.
WTF--does Disney or Hyundai need the money more? What sense does a cross-promotion make there?
This blog entry is turning into a live stream of sorts. The parts of my next AR are trickling in. It is amazing how much I have learned on the subject this past couple years. Despite that bullshit the President and his "AFT" are trying to pull, decided to try out a pistol brace setup. Remaining decisions: Grip(s), buffer set up (length, weight, hydra, contained spring, folding), sights (leaning toward Romeo7), trigger, sling? It will be interesting to see if I can get any reasonably-priced ammo before I get it built.
It looks like Gio is the new starter. The other two bums can sit until week 3 and think about how they tarnish Tommy's legacy. Antonio knows how to protect Tommy's legacy. Good boy, Antonio!
My car needs some tender loving. The radio has progressed from "only gets reception once warmed up" to "will continuously tune through the spectrum" to "now your CD is frozen and will not eject". I have a patch of orange to grind and repaint on the back passenger wheel-well, some interior detailing, and an air suspension system to sort out.
Alright. I am going to focus on the second half. Hope this was enough for now. Good night, Cy.
